Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school, all new fourth graders!  I hope to meet many of you tomorrow night.  Remember that I will be in kindergarten orientation from
4-5 pm, so wait until 5:00 before stopping by the classroom.

The first day of school is this Thursday, so get a good night's rest on Wednesday to begin a brand new school year.  We have lots of exciting things taking place in fourth grade, so I hope you're ready!  I'll see you this week!

Colonial Day

On June 9th, the whole fourth grade went back in time to the colonial period.  Students and adults dressed in period clothing.  Everyone looked great!  We also presented a concert and play related to colonial times, then spent the remainder of the day doing activities popular during this time.  The students made baskets, cross-stitched samplers, tinpunched, planted herbs, played games of colonial times, looked at artifacts from the 1700s, practiced writing with quill and ink, stenciled, and made hornbooks.  It was a full day and everyone had a great time!  Thanks to all of the many parent volunteers who helped to make it a memorable event for all!  Enjoy our pictures!

 

 

 

Raleigh Field Trip

On June 7th, the fourth grade classes went to Raleigh.  We toured the History Museum, the Capitol, the Museum of Natural Sciences, and the Legislative building.  It was a great time!  Check out our awesome pictures!

Colonial Day

Colonial Day is June 9th.  We are all working to prepare for this special day of events.  Many of our students are preparing a play, and Mrs. Kanzler is teaching songs relevant to the colonial period.  The students will also listen to a presentation offered by a local DAR chapter, then spend the remainder of the day visiting different stations.  The stations will consist of activities found during everyday colonial times. 

If you are interested in volunteering to help with leading the students at a station or with behind-the-scenes preparations, please contact me.  This event promises to be one that will be remembered by students and adults alike.  More information will follow.

Spring is in the Air!

Hello everyone!  We're all enjoying our long-awaited intersession.  It's hard to believe that two weeks have already passed!  Enjoy the last week of break, and I'll see you on Monday, April 25.  EOG testing is just a month away, so return with your thinking caps rejuvenated.
